About Shortlistor

Built so strong firms show up in AI answers.

The future of search is AI. Clients ask ChatGPT and Perplexity who to hire — and better-known firms still win those answers. Shortlistor helps your practice pop up more often.

Our story

We founded Shortlistor after years inside strong law practices that still lost work to better-known firms. The counsel was real — deep practice-area experience, skilled attorneys, outcomes clients trusted once they were in the room. Getting into that room was the hard part.

Recognition did not follow expertise. Prospective clients defaulted to names they already knew from billboards, directories, and national rankings. Larger or heavily marketed firms won the shortlist before capable local practices got a chance to prove they were the better fit. Firms were not losing on craft. They were losing on being known.

Then the future of search arrived early: clients started asking AI who to hire — best family lawyer, divorce attorney near me, who to call for immigration. The same gap showed up again, only faster. ChatGPT, Perplexity, and the rest named the familiar brands. Strong law practices stayed invisible in the answers.

Shortlistor exists because we saw that pattern firsthand. We built an answer-engine platform so law firms with real expertise can pop up when clients ask AI who to hire — and stop losing to brand size alone.

What we do

Shortlistor helps law firms appear in AI answer engines. We measure how often ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Gemini name you — then ship the content and authority work that makes you show up more.

Page completeness

We review your practice pages for clarity, depth, and client-ready answers. Incomplete pages are easy for AI engines to skip — we help you ship complete, shortlist-ready content that states who you serve and what matters you handle.

FAQ content that mirrors client questions

Clients ask ChatGPT and Perplexity questions like “who should I hire for a divorce in Austin?” We help you publish FAQ and guide content that answers those prompts directly, with your firm named next to the problem you solve.

Structured data (LegalService & FAQ schema)

We add and refine schema markup so answer engines can parse your firm identity, practice areas, and FAQs more reliably — reducing ambiguity that causes AI to default to better-known competitors.

Attorney bios and proof of expertise

Strong attorneys often hide behind thin bio pages. We strengthen bios with practice areas, jurisdictions, and notable work so AI shortlists can surface named counsel — not only household brand names.

Case results and proof (where ethics allow)

Generative engines prefer concrete proof. We help you publish results and matter summaries that comply with bar advertising rules so recommendations are grounded in evidence, not vague capability claims.

Third-party authority signals

AI trusts corroboration. We guide mentions and presence across Avvo, Justia, FindLaw, Google Business Profile, reviews, and legal media so independent sources support your expertise.

Multi-engine visibility measurement

We test prompt suites across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity to show how often your firm is mentioned — and where better-known firms still win the shortlist.

Prioritized execution (Agile board)

We break improvements into approve/reject tasks so your team can tackle one component at a time — or hand execution to Shortlistor specialists when you want us to implement the work.

How engagement works

  1. 1. Assess — We run prompt suites to see how often AI engines mention your firm versus better-known competitors.
  2. 2. Prioritize — You get a board of actions (FAQs, completeness, schema, bios, proof, authority) ranked by impact.
  3. 3. Execute — Your team ships the work, or Shortlistor specialists help rewrite pages and build the signals AI engines cite.
  4. 4. Measure — Track visibility trends over time and connect them to traffic and outcomes.

Who we serve

Law firms that compete on expertise — and want to be named when clients ask AI who to hire. Relationships still close matters; Shortlistor helps you make the AI shortlist in the first place.
